15/08/2017 [Juvenile Justice] CAALAS opposes children being detained in police lock ups
Tuesday 15 August 2017
The Central Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service, with the support of APO NT today, issued a media release raising concern at the Northern Territory Government’s plan to amend the Youth Justice Act, that will approve police watch houses as detention centres. This amendment is due to the pending problem of where to detain children while they are readied for movement to Darwin, while the refurbishment of the Alice Springs Detention Centre takes place.
