Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT) and Northern Territory PHN (NT PHN) collaborated a NT Care Coordinator & Indigenous Outreach Worker Workshop, on Thursday 16 – Friday 17 June 2016 at the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre, TIO Stadium. It was a great opportunity for networking and sharing ideas with other Care Coordinators and Indigenous Outreach Workers; 39 Participants from various Member Services and Allies such as Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, Danila Dilba, Miwatj, Sunrise, Tangentyere Council, Top End Health Services and Western Desert Nganampa.

From this two day workshop, we heard group presentations from the rural and regional servicesĀ as well as individuals such as Margie Rajak (Patient Travel, Accommodation and Transport Services), Dr. Christine Connors (RDH), Margaret Williams (National Heart Foundation), Adam Austin (Medicare) and Kar Giam (Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre).

Two outcomes from this Workshop to mention were thatĀ a Patient Travel, Accommodation and Transport Services (PTATS) Advisory Group was formed to advocate, respond and provide feedback to PTATS Manager Margie Rajak; 9 representatives formed the group from each remote, rural area.

In addition, the Care Coordinators and Indigenous Outreach Workers formed new relationships and agreed to share contact details amongst one another, to collaborate and continue sharing knowledge about their roles and responsibilities.

Well done to all participants.
