Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to advise you that the Department of Health Indigenous Health Division (IHD) has informed NACCHO that they have approved funding to NACCHO to maintain our sector’s bulk licence arrangements with PenCS for the financial year 2016-17.

NACCHO established an Information Communication Technology/Information Management (ICT/IM) Working Group in mid-2015 to better coordinate our sectors ICT/IM and Health Information Issues. The maintenance of a common data interrogation tool was one of that groups core recommendations. I would like to specifically acknowledge the work of this group and the assistance of our State and Territory Peak bodies in ensuring the approaches NACCHO adopts are informed by the needs and experiences of our sector. The feedback given enables NACCHO to continue to negotiate with and advise IHD on the specific data related issues faced by our services.

IHD recognises that maintaining this licencing arrangement supports continuous quality improvement (CQI) and will assist reduce added complexity and continue to support our sectors data analysis and interpretation.

The ongoing engagement and assistance of both IHD and PenCS will provide real benefit to our sector to ensure the delivery of high quality Comprehensive Primary Health Care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

Should you require any additional information please contact NACCHO’s Chief Information Officer Dr Robert Starling on cio@naccho.org.au or call the Secretariat office on (02) 6246 9300.
