15 November 2018,  the Senate passed the My Health Records Amendment (Strengthening Privacy) Bill 2018.

Following the Senate’s approval, the bill will need to go back to the House of Representatives, which sits again on 26 November 2018. If passed by the House of Representatives in its current form, it will then be assented and become law.

These changes are in response to the Australian community’s calls for even greater privacy and security protections for people using My Health Record.
